Abstract

This research paper examines the concept of old age homes within the context of Islam through a comparative analysis. The objective is to explore the practices and perceptions of old age homes in Islamic societies, considering the religious, cultural, and social aspects associated with caring for the elderly. The study analyzes the Islamic perspective on aging, family responsibilities, and the role of old age homes as a potential solution for providing care and support to senior citizens. Additionally, it investigates the similarities and differences between old age homes in Islamic countries and those found in non-Islamic societies. The research combines a comprehensive literature review with case studies of selected old age homes to shed light on the various factors influencing the establishment, operation, and outcomes of such institutions within an Islamic framework. The findings contribute to a better understanding of the challenges, opportunities, and potential improvements in the provision of elderly care, specifically in the context of Islam. Ultimately, this research aims to facilitate informed discussions and promote the development of culturally appropriate strategies for supporting the elderly in Islamic societies.
