Islam is a complete code of life that provides guidance in every aspect of human existence. Although human beings are endowed with intellect and reasoning, they often encounter situations in which making the right decision becomes difficult due to the limitations of their knowledge and understanding. At such times, individuals may experience uncertainty, confusion, and hesitation regarding the best course of action. To address this need, Islamic teachings provide the practice of “Istikhara”, a means of seeking guidance and goodness from Allah Almighty. Istikhara is a highly blessed and significant act of Sunnah that reflects a believer’s trust, reliance, and confidence in the infinite wisdom of Allah. The Qur’an and the Sunnah emphasize the importance of turning to Allah for guidance in matters where human judgment alone may be insufficient. As a noble Prophetic tradition, Istikhara enables believers to entrust their affairs to Allah and seek His guidance in making decisions that are beneficial for their worldly and spiritual well-being. Through this practice, individuals attain peace of mind, spiritual satisfaction, and confidence that their choices are aligned with divine wisdom. This study examines the concept, significance, objectives, and practical application of Istikhara in the light of the Qur’an and Hadith, highlighting its role in guiding Muslims toward sound and beneficial decisions.
