The Role of Muslim Welfare State in Resolving the Water Issues

Abstract

A welfare State always cares about the basic needs of the people but also held responsible to facilitates them. Water is the blessing of the Allah Almighty and one of the valuable and precious natural resources in the world. It has an awesome significance for both living and non-living things. So, it is prime responsibility of a State to provide with accessibility to water.  Unfortunately, it is turning into a hot potato among nations because of its shortage but States are neglecting the resolution of this issue. Especially in Pakistan, the situation is quite alarming because Pakistani economy mainly relies upon agriculture sector and a very huge amount of water is required to meet the needs of this sector. Almost all the rivers of Pakistan flow to Pakistan approaching through India and India is stopping water-passages to Pakistan. Due to this and some other reasons, Pakistan has fallen into the pit of serious water emergencies. Pakistan is one of the 30 nations of the world, facing an acute water deficiency, which is probably going to bother amid the approaching decades. This shortage has created many other water issues too. So, it is the need of the time to counter this situation and steps must be taken to avoid the worst and undesirable situation. In this article, this point has been tried to establish that a welfare state must take necessary measures to tackle these issues and its potential solutions and remedies have been described for water crisis in Pakistan in the light of the Seerah of the Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H).
