Legendary Literature of Bano Qudsia: Research and Critical Study

Abstract

Bano Qudsia, also known as Bano Aapa, is a Pakistani Urdu novelist, playwright and spiritualist. Qudsia is best recognized for her novel Raja Gidh. She also wrote for television and stage in both Urdu and Punjabi languages.She was born in Firozpur (India) in November 28, 1928,  and passed away  on February 4, 2017 in  Lahore She was the   Spouse of famous Pakistani writer Ashfaq Ahmed. She wrote nine short story books, three Novels, four Novelts, eleven Urdu dramas, two Punjabi dramas & two Sketches. She was awarded Sitara-i-Imtiaz  in1983 by the Government of Pakistan. Instead of letting her own desires and likes and dislikes dictate her myth-making, Banu Qudsiyah has given reality its due colour. She has presented the ground realities instead of imaginary worlds, and her narrative studies, during which she has acquired the quality of contemplation and attraction, have been so powerful that they have prompted the desire to attain knowledge. So, we can say that Banu Qudsiyah simply leaves her mark on the canvas. Banu Qudsiyah’s short stories are firmly rooted in the socio-cultural foundations, in which all classes of society are mentioned. It includes the upper classes of society, hypocrisy, falsehood, deceit, and oppression. The mention of unruly, ill-behaved children and uncontrollable gluttons is also present. Every common and special person is concerned with their legends, who observe life in a deeper sense, along with all their activities related to natural life. They come with all their hopes, both good and bad desires, attractions of joy and sorrow.
