Molāna Muhammad Idrīs Kāndhalvi and his Qur’ānic Commentary “Ma'ārif al-Qur’ān”

Abstract

The Qur'ān is the book belongs to Allah Almighty which will last forever until the Day of Resurrection and is a source of guidance for all mankind till the Day of Judgment, so it is indispensable for all people of different languages, regions and times. Therefore, scholars of every language of every age have, according to their own skills, been using their abilities to interpret the Holy Qur'ān and guide their people, and this will continue till the Day of Judgment. Maulana Idrees Kandhlavi (RA) is well-known among Indian subcontinental Islamic scholars. His Quranic Tafsīr is “Ma'ārif al-Qur'ān”. One of the scholarly traditions of the Muslims is that they keep the credentials as well as the information, so it is also important to know the circumstances of the narrator and to preserve it. This article takes a look at the life of Hazrat Maulana Idrees Kandhlavi (RA), as well it explains the style and characteristics of his Quranic commentary “Ma'ārif al-Qur'ān” in order to present him and his commentary to the class of scholars
