Abstract

This paper seeks to provide an accurate overview of the main concerns of Arabic in the Elegy texts of Pakistan. The origins of elegy writing are briefly traced at the outset, followed by details of the main subjects of Arabic Elegy text in Pakistan, in which topics are dealt with taking their importance as well as certain other aspects into account, using a pragmatic, cosmic, scholastic, and realistic approach. In terms of topics, elegies written in Pakistan cover a wide range. Elegies are composed in response to the death of loved ones, often parents and other close relatives, as well as friends. The elegiacs written in Pakistan cover a wide range of subjects. Elegies are written not only about the death of friends but also about the death of close and loved ones, especially parents and other close relatives.  The elegy is written to express grief over the loss of teachers as well as to pay homage to them. Similarly, elegiacs are written for religious scholars, scholars, nobles, and royal parishioners to pursue their stated purpose. The elegiacs are widely written for the relatives of the Holy Prophet (Ahl Beit), the great calamities of nations, the loss of valuable possessions, and the death of saints.
