Abstract

Imam Tirmizi R.A (824.892 AD ) is one of the scholars of Siha-i- Sita (Six authentic books of Hadith) who is well known as Muhaddith in the world of knowledge. He has not only collected Ahadith of Holy Prophet (Peace be upon him) with great caution and conscious but also gave benefit to public from the treasure of knowledge of Ahadith. He has written many books on different subjects but the great reputation he got from “Aljami’a” cannot be challenged by his other writings. During the compilation of Ahadith he also used various terminologies which are not common in other Muhaddthin and his terminologies have unique value which brought innovation in the sciences and principles of hadith. In this article the life of Imam Tirmizi, his contributions in the field of Hadith and his particular terminologies are critically analyzed.  The material for this article is taken from the biography of the narrators of Ahadith,(Asmau al Rijal) sharooh –e- Jami'a Tirmizi and the articles written on Imam Tirmazi, afterwards it is analyzed and evaluated from historical perspective in the light of research methodology.
