Abstract

Family is the base of any human society. Without it the presence of human society is impossible. The two spouses (husband and wife) are supposed to be the basic units of family. In order to civilize a society, it is important for both to follow the Islamic lifestyle. Islam has set a complete code of ethics for husband to follow. i.e. feeding and clothing his wife, managing a suitable residence for her, where she would live like a Queen. Same are the responsibilities been set for wives, like obeying their male spouses, taking care of his honour, not leaving her house without veil (Neqab), proper upbringing of the new generation, and not allowing entrance of Ghair Muhrrm into her home etc. If these responsibilities are fulfilled by both in the light of Quran and Sunnah, the home can be can alter into a peaceful piece of Paradise. And if the responsibilities are neglected the whole family’s environment would spoil and ruin, which would bring sorrows and grieves. The current and burning household issues like torturing women, female job positions and some other prominent problems deserve to be highlighted and viewed in the light of Islam and to come up with feasible solutions for them. For it is the only way to bring pleasure and happiness to our families and society.
